While it was raining down the valley, we enjoyed the amazing views and cloud shows that Gronergrat offered. It is a final stop and the highest (10,135 ft) point of the Gornergratbahn rack railway. For most people it is also a starting point for hiking, but for us it was the final destination. I must say it’s pretty hard to breath while going uphill at this height :) . The hiking trail is about one mile long and 900 ft of vertical drop. It took us about 40 minutes to rich the point. swiss_alps_zermattThe mountain goats seem to feel pretty comfortable here and are not afraid of people.gornergrat_observatory

Gruyères ♥ Switzerland

April 26, 2010

Gruyères, Switzerland. It was getting dark when we got there and everyone was very hungry. I could snap only few shots while others were picking a place to eat. After a long dinner it was too dark to shoot. You might want to google this place to see some other pictures.
Gruyere_1This cute medieval town actually has ‘no cars’ policy, so we had to park outside of it and walk uphill. Gruyere_2Our restaurant was almost empty: on a rainy day in March there are not very many tourists hanging around. GruyereGruyere_3 Another thing to mention – H.R. Giger, a swiss artist, who won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects in the movie “Alien”, opened an original museum and a bar in this town. The museum was unfortunately closed, but I could snap the bar interior. Doesn’t it look freaky? H.R. Giger Bar
